Browser extension privacy policy
Was It Real? UK price checker. Last updated 26 October 2026.
This extension collects no personal data. We do not sell or share anything, and there is no account.
- The extension is active only on these shop sites: John Lewis, Lakeland, Peter Tyson, Sonic Direct, Euronics, Electrical Discount UK, Hughes, Overclockers UK, PRC Direct, Toolstation and Box. It shows a badge only on product pages we track and does nothing on any other page or site.
- If you click Full price history, that product's page opens on our site (wasitreal.pages.dev), like any link you click.
- It contacts wasitreal.pages.dev for one reason only: to download our public price file. This is the same file for every user, and it is downloaded at most once every 12 hours, whatever page you are on. The extension never asks for one product's data, so the request does not reveal which product you are viewing.
- As with any web request, the host sees your IP address and the time of the download. The extension sends no cookies and nothing else about you.
- Matching the page you are viewing to a product happens entirely inside your browser. The page address is never sent anywhere.
- The price file is kept in your browser's local extension storage for up to 12 hours, then refreshed. Removing the extension deletes it.
- There is no analytics, no tracking, no cookies and no remote code. The extension talks to no other server.
